I sometimes find myself buying tons of different vitamins, in hopes they will provide me with the best health. I have amassed Multi Vitamins, B Vitamins, C Vitamins, D Vitamins, Stress Relief Vitamins, Amino Acids, Garlic pills. You name it, I probably have it. In fact, I have a whole cabinet filled with them. Too many to actually take in one day. So of course when I heard that Evening Primose Oil (yes, another vitamin) could be the answer to my hormonal issues and better skin. I did what any sane vitamin addict would do. I ran right to the store and purchased it.
What is Evening Primrose Oil? It is oil from the seed of the Evening Primrose Plant and contains very high levels of the "fatty acid" gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) , which are responsible for it's healing properties. These are the acids responsible for cell structure, skin elasticity and hormone regulation. It also contains the pain relieving compound of phenylalanine.
Already sounding good right?!?
What can you use it to treat? A Lot of things: Acne, eczema, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, autoimmune disorders, raynaud's phenomenon, multiple sclerosis, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, breast pain, menopausal symptoms, chronic headache, asthma, high cholesterol, weight control, inflammation and more.
Dosage: I take 1,300 mil. pill, 1-3x a day, preferably with a meal. If you don't like pills, you can also get it in oil form. However, you need to take the vitamin consistently for about 6-8 weeks before you really start experiencing any of the benefits.
Contradictions: Evening Primrose Oil is generally safe, but since I'm NOT a physician. I would consult with your health care provider if you are on any type of blood thinner or blood pressure medication before use.
I have been taking it for about 3 months now and definitely see the difference in my skin. It is smoother and more importantly, clear! My moods are better. Plus It has also reduced the occurrences of my raynaud's episodes. Overall, It has completely lived up to its hype. and is therefore: #JBRIGSAPPROVED
